Giving Back Time to Those Who Teach the Next Generation Celebrating World Teachers’ Day with Free Downloadable Lesson Plans!

Every year on October 5, the world comes together to celebrate World Teachers’ Day—a moment to recognize the profound impact educators have on young minds and the future of our communities. Teachers are more than lesson planners and test graders; they are mentors, guides and champions in their communities who nurture integrity, character and a lifelong love of learning.

At Wreaths Across America (WAA), we know that teachers hold the key to inspiring future generations. That’s why our third pillar of the yearlong mission is to TEACH. Through our TEACH Program, we are dedicated to supporting educators as they instill the values of history, patriotism, and community service in their students.

Teaching is a calling, but let’s face it, it can also be overwhelming. That’s where WAA’s TEACH Program comes in. Developed by retired educator and American Gold Star Mother Cindy Tatum, WAA offers free, standards-based lesson plans and resources for K–12 that focus on history, honesty, integrity, gratitude and the importance of freedom.

The best part? These lesson plans are ready-to-use and free to download, giving teachers back valuable time and energy while delivering a meaningful, high-quality education.

This school year is especially exciting because TEACH lesson plans are now available in Spanish, ensuring more teachers and students can benefit from these engaging educational resources. This expansion reflects our commitment to reaching diverse classrooms and helping every child access lessons that encourage good citizenship while honoring the legacy of our nation’s heroes.

Partnering to Strengthen Education

The yearling mission of WAA is simple yet profound: Remember our fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. WAA ensures that this mission lives on in classrooms nationwide by providing educators with free resources.

WAA continues to expand its educational reach through partnerships with organizations like the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, the World War II Foundation, and the National Veterans Memorial and Museum.

Free quarterly TEACH webinars and the Teaching Times e-newsletter provide even more inspiration and tools for teachers, parents and caregivers. The next quarterly TEACH webinar will be held on Tuesday, October 21, at 4 pm ET, with Korean War Legacy Foundation guest speakers discussing the Korean War Legacy Project. The project’s goal is to assist teachers, students and the public in understanding the Korean War and share the stories of those who served, in their own words.

Lessons That Go Beyond the Classroom

The TEACH program doesn’t stop at worksheets and activities. Many students and schools participate in National Wreaths Across America Day wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 5,300 locations nationwide. These experiences give students firsthand opportunities to serve their communities, fulfill service requirements, and even enhance college and job applications with meaningful volunteer work.

On this World Teachers’ Day, we extend heartfelt gratitude to all educators who dedicate their lives to shaping future generations. WAA is proud to offer resources, partnerships, and opportunities that make teaching easier, more impactful, and deeply rewarding.

Let’s continue to Remember, Honor and TEACH together.
