In Memory Of
by Brenda Nielsen for Ralph Jule Nelson, Army, Corporal, Born 04/23/25, Passed On 11/10/20, Honored by Santa Fe National Cemetery
My father, Dr Ralph Nelson, WWII POW who landed in Normandy, fought in and was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and freed by American forces mere days from death through starvation. Went on to serve as a dentist and oral surgeon with partial support from the GI Bill, active Kiwanian, hunter and excellent fly fisherman and golfer. Never spoke of the war before in his 80s but was a fun and loving grandfather and great-grandfather who only ever became angry if one person mistreated another. He was the best storyteller, with love from daughter Brenda and all her family.
