Operation Clean Sweep will commence on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help clean up the wreaths at IGNC is asked to park at the parking lots near Columbariums A & B. Please leave your vehicles in the parking lots after the briefing and walk to the different sections of the cemetery. We want to leave room for the vehicles picking up wreaths to get through.
We will have a short briefing at 0845 and commence with clean up at 0900. Volunteers are encouraged to bring various types of tools to help them transport wreaths from grave sites to the side of the road. The list includes long handled tools (rakes, shovels, etc.), poles for 2-man carry, sleds, tarps, and any other items that will help move wreaths as long as the tool does not leave marks or imprints in the grass.
We are also looking for volunteers that have low-profile dump trailers and or low-profile dump trucks. We are in need of help to transport wreaths from the different sections of the cemetery to the dump site. The low-profile trailers and trucks will allow us to easily get the wreaths into the vehicles. If you are bringing a trailer or truck, please meet Craig Butt (aka Toyman) at Section 39 for instructions and radios no later than 0845. Please, please please follow the 15 mph speed limit on cemetery grounds. We will be watched by cemetery staff for our speed of the vehicles.
When we get to the point where we are finishing up, please double check all sections to make sure all wreaths have been removed. Last year, 2 sections were missed and a group of us needed to go back to remove the wreaths.
Once we are all done and every wreath has been removed, we will have our After-Action Review at the American Legion Post 910. This meeting will take place at approximately 1300. For those that attend the meeting, we will have food and soft drinks available.
Thank you to everyone that helped at the ceremony and thank you to everyone that will be volunteering at Operation Clean Sweep!

In memory of mom and dad, who created a life for four daughters and a load of grandkids! Your unconditional love and support was an authentic model for us in our marriages and parenting. Family vacations provided an opportunity for the grandkids (“The Cousins”) to develop lifelong bonds. You would be very proud, Gma and Gpa!?
