The Gayoso Chapter NSDAR was first organized on 25th of August, 1975 by a group of women with the desire to have a chapter in the historical Missouri Bootheel. Our founding members chose the name "Gayoso" to acknowledge Manuel De Lemos Gayoso, spanish governor of Louisiana and the incorporated village and seat of justice for Pemiscot County.
