In Memory OfMatthew McClintock, United States Military, Born 10/10/85, Passed On 01/05/16

Matt died of wounds sustained during an intense gun battle within the vicinity of Marjah District, Afghanistan, on January 5, 2016. According to his Silver Star citation, while he was serving with ODA 9116, McClintock "repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire to provide life-saving treatment and secure medical evacuation for a wounded teammate. He was mortally wounded while courageously maneuvering through heavy enemy fire to secure a helicopter landing zone.' To Matt's teammates, he left the relative safety of a compound in an attempt to save a friend. We continue to serve in your place for our Country, and we thank your Mom and Dad for making such a man. We love you Matt! De Oppresso Liber. -Micah

Ceremony and Volunteer Information

We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery

Here are some things to remember about the ceremony:

  • Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
  • To help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath, wreaths are distributed to registered participants.  Please keep in mind there are over 200,000 gravesites at JBNC and only a small percentage of them receive wreaths each year.  You may only get one wreath to place, or you may get several.  It all depends on the number of wreaths sponsored each year.  We depend on supporters to sponsor wreaths to help honor more heroes every year.
  • Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as how they should be placed.
  • We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up in January 2025.

The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
