Welcome to the NC0496P - American Heritage Girls Troop NC1224's Wreaths Across America Page. 

On December 14, 2024 at 12:00 pm, NC0496P - American Heritage Girls Troop NC1224 will be helping Forest Lawn West Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans by laying Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes.

Please help us honor and remember as many fallen heroes as possible by sponsoring remembrance wreaths, volunteering on Wreaths Day, or inviting your family and friends to attend with you.

In Memory Of for Oscar Clayborn King, United States Military, Honored by Forest Lawn West Cemetery

Oscar King (1913–1983), the great-grandfather of Vivian Scott, served in the 29th Infantry Division ("Blue and Gray") of the United States Army during the Second World War. His division landed at Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944, during the invasion of Normandy and participated in the subsequent liberation of France from German occupation.

Directions to Cemetery

Ceremony will be held around the monument located across Freedom Drive from the main offices of Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Please look for sign on gate.

If you are arriving from I85, ceremony location is on the right.

If you are arriving from I485, ceremony location is on the left.  You will need to go past address and do a U-Turn.

Parking Instructions

Parking for this event will primarily be across from the offices of Forest Lawn West but IS LIMITED. If you are joining us as part of a larger group, it is advised to meet at the parking lot of the offices and consolidate vehicles when possible, due to limited parking. Please arrive between 11:15am and 11:45am, as the ceremony will begin promptly at 12:00pm.  

Volunteers will direct you where to park.

Ceremony and Volunteer Information

We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Please do not forget to register to volunteer! That way you will get all updates about the cemetery itself.

Here are some things to remember about the ceremony:

  • Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
  • Please help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath.
  • Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed.
  • We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.

The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
