On December 13, 2025 at 12:00 pm, NY0439 - The Fasano Team and Sunrise Detachment Marine Corps League will join Long Island National Cemetery in honoring our veterans by laying remembrance wreaths at the graves of our fallen heroes. This ceremony isn’t just about tradition—it’s a living tribute to the sacrifices made by these brave men and women.
Every wreath tells a story. Your support today ensures that these stories are never forgotten. Whether you sponsor a wreath, volunteer on Wreath Day, or invite friends and family to participate, you’re making a difference.
A Hero’s Story:
At the Long Island National Cemetery, the name Captain Michael J. O’Donnell is etched in stone, a reminder of the sacrifice made by a man who truly embodied courage. Captain O’Donnell was a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, a man who always put others before himself, and who gave everything for his country. On January 31, 1970, while on a rescue mission, he made the ultimate sacrifice—crashing his helicopter while attempting to save a group of soldiers. His body was never recovered.
But his story didn't end there. Captain O'Donnell’s bravery and selflessness inspired countless others, including those who were not even born when he fell. His name is still spoken with reverence by those who remember his heroism.
Every year, as we place a wreath at Captain O’Donnell’s grave, we honor not just his memory, but the memories of every soldier who gave their life for our freedom. His legacy is a beacon of sacrifice and love for country, a legacy that we can pass on to future generations.
Thank you for standing with us in this mission. Your support means more than words can express. Together, we’ll make sure our fallen heroes are remembered—and their legacy lives on for generations to come. Your support today helps keep these stories alive, ensuring that the sacrifices of our heroes are never forgotten.
Thank you so much for supporting the NY0439 - The Fasano Team and Sunrise Detachment Marine Corps League and Wreaths Across America!
