Ceremony and Volunteer Information

Volunteer Information for National Wreaths Across America Day, December 14th, 2024

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us for National Wreaths Across America Day. As the event coordinator for our American Legion Post, I am honored to invite you to join us in honoring our veterans on this special day. This event is a meaningful way to remember, honor, and teach others about the sacrifices made by our service members.

This year, we are proud to announce that with the support of our incredible community, we will be placing 774 sponsored wreaths on the gravesites of veterans at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, FL—a significant increase from the 250 wreaths placed last year.

Event Details:

 • Date: Saturday, December 14th, 2024

 • Time: Ceremony begins at 11:00 AM; wreath placement to follow immediately

 • Location: Veterans Monument, Section F1, Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, FL (see map)

We ask that all volunteers arrive by 10:45 AM to allow time for parking and assembly at the Veterans Monument. Parking volunteers will be available to direct you upon arrival.

Important Information for Volunteers:

 • Carpooling: Parking is limited; please carpool if possible.

 • Respectful Behavior: Please be mindful of your surroundings as there may be funerals taking place nearby.

 • Dress Appropriately: Be prepared for rain or cold weather (jackets, pants, and comfortable shoes). Last year, it rained and was chilly.

 • Gloves for Sensitivities: If you are sensitive to pine or trees, gloves are recommended for handling wreaths.

 • Bring Essentials: Bring water, snacks, or anything else you may need as there are no nearby facilities.

 • Helpful Tools: A small wagon or cart can make transporting wreaths easier.

Our goal is to ensure a smooth and respectful event while remembering the importance of this occasion. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as we work to coordinate this meaningful tribute.

We are so grateful for your willingness to volunteer and make this day possible. Together, we are honoring those who served and teaching the next generation the significance of their sacrifices.

Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

We look forward to seeing you on December 14th!

With gratitude,

Jessica Makin
