Weaver, who left his pregnant wife during the Civil War to join the Illinois Union Cavalry. He died a prisoner of war at Andersonville Prison on August 19, 1864. He never met his son. This man was a true American hero who sacrificed everything. Blessings to Lewis Leiser and his brothers Charles H. and John F., who each gave the ultimate sacrifice during our American Civil War. On August 29, 1863, Charles and John were at the 2nd Battle of Bull Run. Lewis died in Andersonville Prison on March 21, 1864. Edward Leiser died July 26, 1863, in the District of Columbia Armory Square General Hospital.
