Teddy Roosevelt's deployment of the U.S. Fleet around the world which established the U.S. as a major world power. Pop served in WWI, and retired in 1927 as a Chief Petty Officer. He remained 10 years in the Fleet Reserve, and 5 times during WWII, he was called to stand by for possible service and was eager to serve. The VFW 7012 honors Past Commander Winter (2000-2003) for his leadership of our Post. He was loved by many because of the happiness he shared with others. We are grateul for his service to our country and community. Curt and his wife, Louise, started the annual VFW Easter Egg Hunt for the delight of our community children and continues to this day.
